Irish Travellers face discrimination every day...
Muhammad Ali threw away his Olympic medal in 1960 due to discrimination on his return to his home town.
In a case of history repeating itself, John Joe Nevin requested all pubs in his home town to remain shut for his homecoming after his family were refused entry to pubs in Mullingar to watch him win an Olympic medal for Ireland.
The sad fact is that this was in Ireland 2012 and not 50+ years ago. It highlights the reality that Irish Travellers are one of the most discriminated ethnic groups in the world.
